MiniGrant:
Organization of free meetings on perinatal topics
“We believe that women’s reproductive rights include the right to a decent birth and perinatal care at the highest level, both during pregnancy and childbirth”
About the group
“Mom Hugs” is an initiative aimed at improving perinatal services in accordance with the organizational standard of perinatal care. The activists noticed that the pandemic led to organizational paralysis of the health service, which affected the rights of birthing persons and newborns. At the same time, there are no educational activities related to this subject and no reimbursed support of specialists.
Previous activities of the group include herstorical happenings, a petition to the Ministry of Health regarding the reimbursement of lactation counseling and urogynecological physiotherapy, as well as guard activities at the Cieszyn hospital.
“Our ultimate goal is to give support to another woman”
About the action
MiniGrant will support the functioning of the already-run “Mom Hug Academy”. The group will organize free meetings with experts on three key issues: lactation, urogynecological physiotherapy, and women’s rights in the perinatal period.
The meetings will take place in Cieszyn and the neighboring rural commune of Hażlach. As a result, the support will also reach young women from the district of Cieszyn, living in smaller towns, who are at risk of exclusion due to financial and transportation barriers.
Grant amount: PLN 4 900
