Feminist EmPOWERment Grant:
Support for activists helping refugees from Ukraine

About the Organization

RegenerAction is the first organization in Poland that systemically deals with issues of activist burnout and overloads in social engagement. Areas of its activity include supporting activists in resting and regeneration and building awareness around, among others, empathy fatigue, burnout by representation, or the costs of engagement. RegenerAction promotes a regenerative culture of activism, changing its destructive norms and emphasizing the importance of individual and common care for each other.

About the action

Just a few weeks after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, RegenerAction noticed a significant increase in the number of reports of activists and helpers in need of support. The Foundation received questions about crisis interventions and support for groups. Therefore, the decision was made to work according to the already tested model: crisis interventions + individual and team supervision + workshops for groups + work with the body + coordinating this support. The Foundation’s team has already had similar experiences related to the humanitarian crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border.

Funds from the Feminist EmPOWERment Grant will be used to pay for crisis interventions, rehabilitation and relaxation massages for activists, group workshops, and individual and team supervision. All these activities will be possible thanks to the employment of a person coordinating ongoing assistance activities.
