Association “For the Earth”

Bratnik

Feminist EmPOWERment Grant:
Multifaceted support for refugees from Ukraine who want to stay in the Lublin region.

“We want refugees and migrants in the Lublin region to feel safe, feel at home.”

About the Group

As the “For Earth” Association, we support the integration of refugees with the local community of the Lublin region. In our activities, we focus on including persons with experience of being a refugee or a migrant in implemented initiatives, not only as beneficiaries, but also as initiators and persons responsible for individual activities. We try to empower migrant and refugee women, restoring their sense of security. We also work with their children: we accompany them in their educational and integration process, so that they can experience the carefreeness of childhood, play, and develop.

Through our actions, we also try to reduce prejudices and break stereotypes. We want to show that people coming to Poland are not focused on receiving support, but also have a lot to offer.

“Since 2009, our organization has been working “with and for” refugees. Now the nightmare of war is right on the other side of our border”.

About the action

The first weeks after the outbreak of the war were a time of full mobilization: members of the Association, due to the nature of our activity and our location in the Lublin region, received a lot of messages asking for help. They dealt with, among others, providing consultations, searching for apartments, connecting refugees with hosts, transporting people from the border to reception centers. The grant recipients were approached by local authorities, who needed their contacts and competences, including translation (one of the members speaks Ukrainian), as well as companies offering jobs and residence.
For these reasons, the Association needs a new person on the team, one who speaks Ukrainian, Polish and Russian, who will be running the intervention helpline.
