Feminist Emergency Service: urgent grant for the establishment and first activities of the rugby club
About the group
Tired of always being treated as an unnecessary low-priority addition at the club, we finally decided to step out of it when the club silenced all our attempts to talk and fired one of the most experienced players and our former coach.
Krakow Rugby Women is a group of girls and women who until recently formed the female rugby section in the Juvenia Krakow club. They have won a bronze medal in the Polish Championship and have experience in preparing women for playing in the Women’s National Rugby Team. They left to protest the discrimination against women by the club and founded their first women’s rugby club in Poland.
About the action
We are building an independent women’s sports community that will operate with sensitivity to the needs of women athletes, without violence or discrimination. We want to give active players the opportunity to continue their rugby passion and development. We want to create an opportunity for other women in Krakow to try their hand at rugby in a team where the female players are the center – not an unnecessary addition.
The group now needs money to pay for the training venue in the winter and to buy equipment for the new club. Thanks to the support of the Feminist Emergency Service, the Beasts of Rugby Kraków (this is the name chosen by the players) will be able to operate immediately, without interruption, which will allow to maintain the motivation of the players and will put wind in the sails at the beginning of the action.
Grant amount: PLN 2400
