Sensorically Sensitive / Sensorycznie wrażliwe

The group consists of five women, including two blind persons, one visually impaired, one Deaf, and one able-bodied allied person. They act because they want people with sensory disabilities to be able to meet, talk and support each other in a friendly, non-judgmental group, and have access to the same development and empowerment tools as women without disabilities.

“The problem is not only disability, but also the way it is perceived”

Women with disabilities experience multiple discrimination. “As women, we are expected to look impeccable and fulfill imposed social roles. Additionally, when you are a person with a disability, the feelings of rejection, marginalization and lack of support are particularly acute. The problem is not only the disability, but also the way it is perceived”.

Using the funds from the mini-grant, the group will organize a series of empowerment meetings for women with sensory disabilities and women supporting them under the name of Women’s Circles, which – as the group writes – help cope with sadness, uncertainty, lack of faith in oneself and one’s abilities, various fears, and sometimes a lack of feeling the meaning of your actions, or the lack of deep contact with yourself.

We want to give the participants time just for themselves, so that they can take care of themselves, not as usual – everyone around, forgetting about their own needs.” Meetings in the women’s circle will be held once a month (6 meetings in total). Some of them will be combined with empowering workshops, such as: forest sensory walk relaxation combined with visualizations, work with the body and breath, and massages.
