We Hug Moms Association
Cieszyn
MiniGrant: the group will continue guarding activities aimed at monitoring the quality of perinatal care at the maternity ward in Cieszyn and will start operations at the next maternity ward – in Bielsko-Biala.
About the group
We believe that women’s reproductive rights are not only the right to abortion, contraception and sex education, but also the right to a decent birth and perinatal care at the highest level, both during pregnancy and postpartum.
We Hug Mums is an initiative from Cieszyn, consisting of three specialists: Gosia – mother, journalist and activist, Natalia – mother and urogynecological physiotherapist and Olga – mother, doula, and certified lactation consultant. The Association fights for the improvement of services and systemic changes in perinatal care, as well as counteracting the deprivation of patients’ rights by conducting guarding and educational activities in the Cieszyn municipality.
Our overriding goal is to support other women. After our previous experiences, we already know that our guarding activities have an impact on the introduction of positive changes for those giving birth in local maternity wards.
About the action
We Hug Mums, seeing that their interventions in the maternity ward in Cieszyn lead to specific corrective actions on the part of the staff, decided to continue their guard activities. Further monitoring of the maternity wards will allow them to check whether the implemented practices are maintained, which will have a real impact on the standards of care and the conduct of the staff. As part of the MiniGrant, We Hug Mums Association will continue its activities in Cieszyn, at the same time expanding them with another maternity hospital – in Bielsko-Biala.
