Members of the group will organize a circle of women of Arab origin in Wroclaw. The group’s plan also includes psychological support for women as well as legal and social counseling and assistantship in Arabic. The final action will be an exhibition of works/handicrafts.

About the group

We want to create a community of women aware of their rights, involved in the everyday life of Wroclaw and feminist communities.

The Arab Femmes is a group of persons who decided to create a circle of women of Arab origin – a safe space for support, exchange of experiences, and joint activities. They are aware of the fact that they represent a group particularly vulnerable to discrimination based on origin, hence the great desire that every Arab woman in Poland has the support of the community and knows the laws that can protect her.

Today, there is a great lack of such a place in Wroclaw, which is why we want to change it. As refugees of Arab origin, we know the needs of our community, and we very much want to support each other.

About the action

The members of The Arab Femmes plan to organize regular meetings around various issues and problems, including reproductive and sexual rights, the situation of women and LGBTQ+ persons in Poland and in the world, but also – everyday challenges and difficulties of living in Wroclaw and its surroundings. They also want to provide psychological support, legal, social counseling and assistance to women in Arabic. As the finale of their activities, they are planning an open exhibition of works, thanks to which women of Arab origin will be able to tell her own stories in first person, on their own terms.
