Rainbow Without Violence
Krakow
MiniGrant: creating two episodes of the podcast on deaf LGBTQ+ persons on educational topics in the field of counteracting violence, discrimination, and exclusion.
About the group
We were united by the desire to actively participate in social life and work for women and queer persons experiencing violence, but to act on our own terms.
“Rainbow Without Violence” is a group of – as they call themselves – activistically intrepid persons, including lawyers, psychologists, and activists. Currently, Rainbow’s activities focus on education and support: they organize open meetings on anti-violence topics and record an educational podcast. Ultimately, they want to create a space in which people with experience of violence will receive psychological and legal support, as well as broader education about violence (also in queer relationships and within the community).
We are convinced that such educational material is extremely necessary. Deaf people are often excluded from traditional support methods, such as helplines, in violent situations.
About the action
The group will record two episodes of a podcast about the experience of violence, exclusion and discrimination against Deaf women and queer persons. The episodes will be simultaneously translated into Polish sign language, and their main goal will be to inform how and where LGBTQ+ deaf people can seek help in case of violence. The episodes will be available for free on streaming platforms and distributed through promotional campaigns in target groups. With its actions, the group wants to respond to the real need that they have learned about from the Deaf community.
