More space for LGBT and feminism in the Świętokrzyskie voivodship

The informal Equality Province group was formed three years ago for purposes of improved integration of the local non-heteronormative (LGBT+) community in Kielce and the Świętokrzyskie province. The group organises regular open meetings and events associated with preventing homo-, bi-, and transphobia, and fostering women’s rights, i.a. 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, WATCH DOCS Festival, One Billion Rising, Light a Candle for Dominik and Kacper, Living Libraries.

WenDo – kicks, punches, setting boundaries

The Feminist Fund mini-grant will make it possible to organise a two-day WenDo self-defence and assertiveness workshops for women and persons socialised for female roles. The workshop will be an occasion to learn basic self-defence techniques: punches, kicks, releases, and blocks, and – occasionally – to practice assertive responses in line crossed situations. WenDo is an enormously empowering experience, potentially morphing into an opportunity to meet persons interested in co-operating with the Equality Province to organise subsequent events indispensable to women or the LGBT community.
