Menstrual Leave Team
Warsaw
MiniGrant:
Preparation of postulates on menstrual leave (legal and scientific research, collection of good practices)
“We believe that feminist demands should include workers’ and social demands!”
About the group
The Menstrual Leave Team is an informal group formed by representatives of the Employee Rights of the Women’s Strike (OSK) Advisory Council and Menstrual Action (Akcja Menstruacja ). Its purpose is to introduce menstrual leave in Poland. Activists point out that every person who menstruates experiences menstruation differently, and in the most difficult situation there are those who perform physical work. At the same time, the members of the team broaden the perspective, emphasizing that capitalism and patriarchy are interrelated systems of oppression, which are most strongly experienced by persons from the non-privileged classes, especially women and queer persons.
“We are activists who want to make menstrual problems visible, break menstrual taboos”
About the action
The team was created because the issue of menstrual rights or menstrual mobbing is so niche that it requires a lot of substantive and field work. The result of joining forces will be legal research, conducting qualitative research among employees in Poland, and collecting good practices. The development of these materials will be used to prepare specific postulates regarding menstrual leave in Poland.
