Map Yourself / Zmapuj Siebie

We all have strong sides!

A collective of three girls supporting girls and women of all ages in efforts to develop a sense of self-esteem and conscious identification of personal development paths. The Group empowers secondary school female students in the process of making decisions concerning their future, in contrast to stereotypes of women on the labour market. “Our initiative targets girls and women willing to make conscious decisions regarding their own future and explore potential development paths – yet mainly girls and women ready to accept themselves, their space, their circumstances and their bodies, and face the future carrying such baggage, heads held high and with courage. We also want to build a sisterhood-based community uniting younger and older girls and women seeking empowering female energy,” the girls have proclaimed.

Thanks to mini-grant a group of secondary school girls from Biskupiec attended a Map Yourself workshop; grownup women from their community – mothers, sisters, teachers, activists – found out how young girls can be supported in their development process.

Taking a step further

We began our work by holding a workshop for secondary school female pupils (…). We then took one step further, organising circles for women with a focus on assorted themes: change, the future, femininity. Our plans also include training sessions for persons working with young people, to disseminate our method and reach out with it. We intend to take such action to support girls and women in self-sufficient decision processes, to improve their self-awareness and capacity, and to take actual steps to their future of dreams, and all in a sorority environment of mutual trust and support.

They intend to spend grant money on a development-focused field trip for a group of fifteen secondary school pupils. Immediately prior to the workshop, girls will be working with interested secondary school pupils in one-on-one format, visiting them in their hometowns if possible. Workshop participants will also be provided with follow-up group and individual assistance. Workshops will be attended by girls from different locations across Poland.
