Lodz Tenants Association
Lodz
MiniGrant: The group will use the grant to finance permanent activities of the organization, e.g., emergency telephone, tenant duty, demonstrations in defense of tenant rights.
About the group
We are tenants who do not possess much, but we have a lot of experience and knowledge to offer. We want to develop the idea of our association – self-help, solidarity and mutual respect.
The group consists of about 20 people of different ages – young women, students, workers, pensioners who experience economic exclusion. The association offers support to people who are struggling with housing problems in Lodz – they help with writing letters, photograph damage while performing interventions due to sanitary issues or technical condition of buildings, block illegal evictions. Social feminism is important for the group, they fight the so-called “tenement house cleaners” and oppose the housing policy of the Lodz authorities. The Association’s assistance is most often used by pensioners, single mothers, as well as large families and women with disabilities.
We assume that being a group excluded due to economic or health reasons, we can only make our demands heard and our tenant struggle seen if we act together. We are open to every person in need, and we perceive our feminism as indispensable for the emancipation of women performing hired work, pensioners, and children from poor families.
About the action
Using the MiniGrant, tenants associated in LTA want to provide their group with the necessary support. They will continue to run the emergency telephone, tenant duty and interventions.
