About the group

We are here to make sure autistic girls and LGBTQ+ persons don’t feel alone in the world and know that there is a community where they will receive support and understanding.

The group consists mostly of people on the autism spectrum, half of whom also have ADHD. The Foundation is dedicated to empowering girls and women on the autism spectrum so that they can live up to their potential, fulfil themselves in various roles, and participate fully in social life. It also conducts activities for specialists working with people on the spectrum, their relatives, and those around them, so that these groups of people become sensitive to gender differences and neurodiversity and are not guided by prejudice and stereotypes.

About the action

Girls, women and LGBTQ+ persons on the autism spectrum are experts on their own lives and rightful participants of social life.

Girls and women on the autism spectrum are at risk of exclusion due to neuroatypicality and gender, and LGBTQ+ persons – also due to their gender or psychosexual identity. The problems faced by this community include difficult access to diagnosis and a high risk of exposure to violence. The Foundation creates a safe space where people can support each other and benefit from psychological support or mentoring. The main activities of the Girls are self-help groups for the community, specialized consultations, and educational work (including training for specialists, conferences, and free publications).

The Foundation wants to increase access to diagnosis and improve the quality of the diagnostic system in Poland. It plans to create a system of certification of institutions that diagnose and conduct psychotherapy, so that people on the spectrum will know where to find understanding and support.
