Frelki-Citizens
Siemianowice Slaskie
MiniGrant: Frelki-Citizens will organize workshops for young girls on dating, relationships, sex, and informed consent.
About the group
We know that there is a need to talk about sex, because we have teenage daughters, nieces, children of friends, and granddaughters. The family is not always ready for such conversations, and young people are increasingly exposed to sexual abuse.
Frelki-Citizens is a group of approx. 15 residents of Siemianowice Slaskie, of different ages, who work for the city, nature, the common good, and other women. So far, among other things, Frelki have been doing charity work by helping refugees, submitting projects to the civic budget, and participating in development training in cooperation with Fundacja Rzecz Spoleczna in Katowice. They also co-organize Power Days for Women and organize the Bone Marrow Donor Day. Frelki want every woman to have the right to make decisions, to information and to safety. Their actions also aim at protecting women from abuse and focus on educating them about informed consent.
There is still an attitude in our society that a girl who wears a short skirt is to blame. With this event, we also want to draw the attention of parents, teachers, and city authorities to the problem of sexual abuse and to people not knowing how to behave in such situations.
About the action
The group will organize workshops for young girls in their city on dating, relationships, and informed consent. The meetings will be conducted by experts with psychological or sex education. During the workshops, participants will learn what their rights are in relationships, where they can ask for help in the event of violence or sexual abuse, etc. In addition, they will receive books, thanks to which they will be able to deepen the knowledge gained during the workshops.
