MiniGrant: Free Education Association will organize workshops for teenagers on informed consent and sexuality
About the group
We are a feminist collective (or three crazy mothers) for whom the freedom of our daughters and their access to a free, unfettered, courageous and inclusive education was so important that we decided to “create” such a place for them.
The association was founded by – as they call themselves – three crazy feminist mothers. On a daily basis, they run the Democratic Free School “Baza”, which has become a safe and inclusive space for teenagers “after school hours”. Once a month, they run “girls’ meetings” in “Baza”, i.e., a support group for teenagers with experience of discrimination (mainly due to their financial situation and sexual identity).
Our “girls’ meetings” are attended by young girls who do not have basic knowledge about contraception, their own anatomy, building relationships with themselves and with others. They do not know that they can knowingly agree to or refuse contact with another person. We want to equip them with strategies to take care of themselves, their emotions, their needs. We want these girls to be able to consciously consent to physical contact. We want to show the girls that they are not alone.
About the action
The group will conduct workshops for girls aged 13-17 who have experienced exclusion. The workshop entitled “My body, my business” will concern sex education and informed consent to physical contact. They will be led by a team of three: a non-violent communication coach, a specialist in children’s and women’s rights, and an anti-discrimination and sexuality educator. In addition, each participant will receive a book about growing up!
