MiniGrant: Elements will conduct a workshop with a psychologist and an expert on behaving in front of the camera and organize a photo session for rural residents. An exhibition of the pictures will later be organized.
About the group
We come from rural areas; the village is the closest to us. We see a great need to support rural women, equalize educational opportunities, and empower informed choices. There is a lot of work to be done in the context of women’s self-acceptance, acceptance of transience, when the world celebrates “being perfect”.
The informal group Elements consists of three friends who care about the development and emancipation of women from rural areas. They have joined forces because they want to implement actions that strengthen women’s self-acceptance and undermine the social norms imposed on them, which are difficult to defy for women from villages and small towns. Members of the group work in local Rural Housewives’ Associations and other organizations, they are well acquainted with the rural community and the needs of women. Elements were created to change the world!
We want women to be strong, independent, open, not afraid to dream. We want them to dare to go their own way, we want to support female energies. We want women from rural areas not to feel self-conscious and to be strong. We want women to have the freedom to choose the path they want to follow, to be aware of their value.
About the action
Elements will invite approx. 20 women from rural areas to take part in workshops on self-acceptance and understanding the mechanisms of social media, which create unrealistic standards of appearance, lifestyle, “being an ideal”. The workshop will be an opportunity to talk about expectations towards women, stereotypes and patterns, fear of evaluation, self-acceptance, what it means to be natural and to be yourself. During the workshops, mini-photo sessions of each participant will be held. An exhibition will be created to display those photos.
