Cooperative of Women’s Thought Association
Niepolomice
The members of the association will implement an action for women experiencing domestic violence – the “Sister Phone” volunteers’ helpline and provide the volunteers with appropriate training.
About the group
We believe that sisterly help in conditions of enormous stress, fear and lack of life stability can be a huge support, and guidance over formal requirements will make it easier for women to enforce their rights and ensure their safety.
Cooperative of Women’s Thought Association is a group of over 10 activists who perform educational and support work for women and their families in the local community of Niepolomice. So far, they have organized, among others, empowering workshops for teenagers “Girl Power Center”, preventive and educational workshops on addictions, and monthly meetings with women over coffee to get to know their needs as well as possible. It was from these conversations among women that the need for further action emerged.
Domestic violence affects our local community. Unfortunately, not every person affected by violence is able to find help and report to the appropriate institution. With our action, we want to provide the residents of the municipality with dedicated support that will help them find their way through administrative requirements.
About the action
The members of the association decided to create a “Sister’s Phone”, i.e. a regular duty of volunteers who will support women in the procedure of obtaining systemic assistance (including setting up a domestic violence record – so-called “blue card,” enforcing assistance from relevant institutions, using crisis intervention, testifying). A lawyer and a psychologist will train the volunteers.
