Children Have Had Enough
Warsaw
Feminist Emergency Service: an urgent grant for organizing a protest against institutional violence against single mothers in relations with their former partners.
About the group
We are a group of mothers who do not agree with patriarchal oppression, systemic violence against women and children, and the exclusion of mothers from public space and decisions regarding their children. We create a grassroots community whose members support one another in the fight against institutions that, instead of protecting, legitimize violence.
They are engaged in publicizing injustices, organizing protests and mutual support. They oppose forced contact between children and violent fathers, punishing mothers for protecting children, and ignoring real threats by courts and institutions.
About the action
The state systemically supports violence – mothers are punished for trying to protect their children from perpetrators, and courts force victims to contact their tormentors. These are not individual cases, but an element of patriarchal politics.
The group wants to organize a protest on May 9, Europe Day. Currently, key codification committees on family law are underway in the Ministry of Justice. The group wants to put pressure on the authorities and society. Through the protest, they want to draw attention to the fact that Poland does not comply with EU standards for the protection of women and children – courts force victims of violence to contact their abusers, and mothers trying to protect their children are punished.
