Caretakers of Dębak
Warsaw / Podkowa Leśna
MiniGrant:
Organization of a series of activation meetings for refugees waiting for a residence permit
“Women with whom we have contact say explicitly that inactivity in the center is killing them. They don’t know how long refugee procedures will take. On the other hand, women who have managed to leave Dębak need meetings and integration.”
About the group
“Caretakes of Dębak” is a group of women supporting refugees waiting for a decision on a residence permit. Some of them are staying in the center in Dębak (Podkowa Leśna) and other centers, and some have already left the center and started independent life outside it. The support consists, among others, of providing supplies, food, and hygiene products, as well as organizing medical and legal consultations, or finding a job and a flat after leaving the center.
“We want to improve the well-being of women from the center, fill their time with activity that moves them, feeds them, allows them to feel together and create something together”
About the action
The collective will organize a series of activating and sustaining meetings aimed at both women who have recently left the centre and those who are still there.
As part of the workshop, the participants will share their skills (DIY, artistic, culinary, massage). In addition to psychological support, integration, and activation, the meetings are also meant to help participants find ways of potential gainful employment after leaving the centre or obtaining a work permit.
