MiniGrant:
Organizing a fundraising festival to support persons from Poland who want to perform an abortion in the Czech Republic
“We also support persons from Poland emotionally and financially, because we are aware of the class dimension of restricting access to abortion”
About the group
Aunt Czesia is an informal collective operating in Prague, helping persons from Poland in accessing legal and safe abortion in the Czech Republic. The collective helps in abortions both up to week 12 (“on demand”) and up to week 24 for embryopathological reasons. The assistance provided to persons who want to terminate their pregnancy in the Czech Republic is informative, financial, and emotional.
Aunt Czesia actively collects funds to pay for abortions during fundraisers and benefits. 80-120 persons contact the Aunt every month.
“We have managed to create a unique community – sensitive to social issues, pro-feminist, and believing in transnational solidarity”
About the action
In autumn 2022, Aunt Czesia plans to organize a one-day festival in Prague, to which she will invite local initiatives and the community of persons already supporting the collective. As part of the festival, there will be transinclusive empowering workshops for women, panel discussion, and concerts. All income from the event will be used to support other persons from Poland who need to perform an abortion in the Czech Republic.
