Feminist Emergency Service: urgent grant for in-kind support for Afghan refugees held in guarded centers

About the Organization

For the Earth is an association working for refugees in the Lublin region, primarily in the center in Lukow. Their strategy of action is based on building a community (they form, among others, a Women’s Club) and engaging female residents of the refugee center in decisions taken as part of the collective.

About the action

We were on a trip together when we found out about Usnarz, about the border of shame. We signed petitions and financially supported organizations that are there, but we also decided to act.

In the summer of 2021, the first refugees from Afghanistan came to Poland – many of them found themselves in centers in the Lublin region that were not adequately prepared for this. There was chaos, people often did not have basic clothing and hygiene products, and organizations were hindered from entering the facility. For the Earth quickly launched a collection of the most necessary items, selected in direct contact with refugees. However, some things, such as underwear, need to bought brand new.

As part of the Feminist Emergency Grants, For the Earth will buy the most necessary things for refugees and their families who are staying in centers in the Lublin region.
