Feminist Emergency Service: urgent grant for the organization of a protest by persons with disabilities and their carers

About the group

2119PLN: this is the amount of nursing benefit for a caregiver of a person with a disability in Poland. A carer can only receive this money if he/she resigns from any gainful employment. We do not consent to such a law.

Under the hashtag #2119, there is a grassroots social movement that consists of persons with disabilities, their carers and assistants, and allies. The igniting spark for the formation of the group was Agnieszka Szpila’s text “Where are these children? In deep shit!”, describing the systemic lack of support for persons with disabilities and their caregivers, mostly mothers. They protest because they demand a change in the law concerning the situation of persons with disabilities in Poland, including the amount and rules for granting care allowance.

About the action

The Feminist Emergency Grant will be used to organize a protest at the Presidential Palace. The first protest took place in September, but on the wave of social emotions the group wants to continue and demands the fulfillment of 8 demands.
